A diverse crowd of Brooklyn residents jammed into Low Post, the cozy performance spot attached to Fort Greene's popular Cuban restaurant, Habana Outpost on Fulton Street.
The occasion, taking advantage of the excitement around the runup to November's historic election, featured an examination of the special problems and serious obstacles confronting ex-convicts as they rejoin society but are very often denied the rights of citizens by being blocked from voting.
A new movie by filmmaker Samson Styles, LOCKED OUT - EX-CONS AND THE VOTE, was shown. A discussion, led by Styles, followed. Performers, including Spiritchild and Aliza Hava, reved up the crowd for an exciting evening. Here are photos from that informative evening which was sponsored by the Fort Greene Film Society.
