on Apr 25, 2006, thousands of New Yorkers, gathered at the plaza next to the Brooklyn Borough Hall. They were rallying and later marching across the Brooklyn Bridge to protest the anti-labor jailing of Roger Toussaint. The President of Local 100 of the Transport Workers Union was thrown in jail by a judge as punishment for leading his members in a strike to preserve their standard of living. Joined by community leaders, city councilmembers, a Congressman, clergy and dozens of NYC union leaders, the rally expressed a militant solidarity and determination to fight back against the draconian Taylor law that outlaws strikes by public workers.
