On September 1, 2004, the NYC Central Labor Council called for a historic Labor Day march outside the Republican National Convention. Thousands of New York workers converged on Madison Square Garden on 8th Avenue. They opposed four more years of Bush policies of aiding the rich while trampling on the rights of labor, waging an immoral war while ignoring rising unemployment at home and cutting the taxes of the super-rich while 45 milliion Americans go without health insurance. Speaker after speaker attacked the Bush administration and urged thousands in the audience to apare no effort to make sure that the President is retired this November 2nd.
