Dozens of Brooklynites continued their Sunday night vigil outside the home of U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer in Park Slope, Brooklyn tonight. Called by the Brooklyn-based group, Parents For Peace, the vigil has demanded an end to Senator Schumer's support of the war in Iraq and his silence on the revelations of torture by U.S. soldiers there of Iraqui prisoners.. Amazingly, even though many leading Democrats, including the Presidential nominee John Kerry have called for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsefeld's resignation, Schumer has said he "wants to hear more."
The demonstrators have pledged to return to Schumer's residence, which is located at 9 Prospect Park West, every Sunday from 7:30 to 8:30 pm "until he begins to represent the wishes and aspirations of New Yorkers for peace in Iraq." For more information, call 718-624-5921 or check the internet at
